How Does the Process Work
The most common question we get besides "Do you do...?" is "How does this work?" In fact, it is a good question as the Interior Design industry has no general format followed by all. This is a profession that requres much training and experience for success. It survives either by charging for time spent or furnishings purchased, or a combination of both.
If you call Susan Kelly Interiors for assistance, we are please to set a meeting time, free of charge, to see and hear what you are hoping to accomplish. At that time we review our working contract, so you have the information you need to decide if you wish to proceed. We do require a modest deposit or retainer which we apply toward design plans and research. Though we charge and hourly fee, we offer discounts on furniture, accessories, area rugs, lighting, etc. which have proven to handily offset the time fees.
If you need absolutely nothing new, but need only a design plan, we function much like a draftsman or architect and charge for the plan based on the time it takes to produce it.
We can confidently say that the final outcome is well worth the investment. Not only does it give you a safeguard against making hasty or ill-informed choices, you have access to many lovely fabrics, art, and furnishings you cannot find just going out shopping. These things "available to the trade" are often only supplied through designers. You deserve to see and consider these compelling products. The process is fun and rewarding. It is our goal to help you create a tasteful, beautiful, comfortable home using the most creative, unique, quality resources available.
